معماری (سبک خراسانی)
شیوه خراسانی در سده ی نخست هجری پدید آمد و تا سده ی چهارم ادامه یافت. آن چه درباره ی فرهنگ این زمان پیداست، این است که دگرگونی های فرهنگی، بیشتر در خراسان رخ می داد. این سرزمین زادگاه تحسین نمونه های هنر و معماری اسلامی است و از آن جا به شهرهایی چون دامغان و یزد رسیده است. از دیدگاه نیارشی، معماری شیوۀ خراسانی با شیوۀ پارتی تفاوتی نکرد. در این شیوه هم چفدهای مازه دار (بیز یا مرغانه ای) به کار می رفت، اما بلندای پاکار چفدها را کم می گرفتند و معمولاً کمی بیش از بلندای قد یک انسان بود و این چنین بلندای ساختمان را کوتاه می ساختند.
ساختمایه ای که در این شیوه به کار رفته «بوم آورد یا ایدری» بوده است، یعنی آن را از خود محل ساخت به دست می آورند، نه از جاهای دیگر. برای نمونه، در مسجد جامع فهرج، دیوارهای چینه ای از گل فهرج و ستون ها از خشت است....

مسجد جامع کبیر
درخشانترین بنای شهر یزد مسجد جامع آن است. بنائی است قدیم و بسیار فاخر و جمیل. درخشندگی کاشی ها، بلندی مناره ها، زیبایی گچکاری، گشادگی صحن، خوابیدگی گنبد و بالاخره شبستان زمستانی وسیع هر یک عنصری و عاملی از بزرگی، زیبایی، هنرمندی این یادگار ارجمند و دست پرورد هزار ساله ی یزد است. وصف معماری و هنر ساختمانی آن را محمد کریم پیرنیا و یادداشت های راهنماوار مربوط به آن شهر چنین کرده است: « ایوان بزرگ و غرفه ها و گوشواره ها و بزواره ها و رواق ها و طنبی های آن همه در حد زیبایی است و معماری با شکوه پارتی را با همه ی جلال و احتشام و نغزی و ریزه کاریش به یاد می آورد.
قوس های جناغی خوش اندامش که تناسب 4 و 3 دارد در عین نغزی ژرف نگری معمار ایرانی را در استواری بنا نشان می دهد. تکیه ی بلند و سردر آسمانش با اینکه اندامی بس کشیده دارد ( بیش از 2/1) بر شانه ای نازک ایستاده و فشار عمودی مناره ها که آفریده ی ذوق هنرمندان ایرانی است جرزهای باربر آنرا نغض و نازک کرده است. روشنایی گنبد با وضع طاقچه های گچ اندود در برابر روزن های گچ اندود در برابر روزن های مشبک به نحوی شاعرانه تأمین شده.»
با وجود این که این مسجد از آثار دینی در شهر یزد و از نمودهای باارزش و معماری تاریخی ایران است نخستین مطالعه ی دقیق عبارتست از....
