Abstract
Understanding of the turbulent exchange processes between the ocean and the overlying atmosphere is essential for
wind shear and turbulence structure of the Marine Atmospheric Boundary Layer (MABL). This is highly relevant for
the development of offshore wind projects with respect to the expected power output and acceptable structural loads
and fatigue of turbines. This paper presents preliminary results from a recent field experiment off the coast of
Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Turbulent fluxes have been measured from both a discus buoy and the Air Sea
Interaction Tower (ASIT). Using the correction algorithm of Edson et al. (1998) the buoy data are corrected and
compared with the ASIT measurements. The comparison shows that the corrected fluxes measured from the mooring
are in good agreement with measured fluxes from the tower and that the direct covariance flux method is applicable
for offshore turbulent flux measurements

چکیده
درک درستی از فرایندهای تبادل آشفته بین اقیانوس و جو پوشاننده برای ضروری است
برش باد و ساختار تلاطم از لایه دریایی جوی مرز (MABL). این است که برای بسیار مرتبط
توسعه پروژه های بادی دریایی با توجه به توان خروجی مورد انتظار و بارهای سازه قابل قبول
و خستگی توربین. در این مقاله نتایج اولیه از یک آزمایش میدانی اخیر در سواحل
تاکستان مارتا، ماساچوست است. ماده ای متلاطم از هر دو شناور بحث و دریای هوا اندازه گیری شده است
برج تعامل (ASIT). با استفاده از الگوریتم اصلاح ادسون و همکاران (1998) داده های شناور ها تصحیح شده و
در مقایسه با اندازه گیری ASIT است. مقایسه نشان می دهد که ماده ای اصلاح از پهلوگیری اندازه گیری
در توافق خوبی با روغن اندازه گیری از برج و هستند که از روش شار کوواریانس مستقیم قابل اجرا است
برای اندازه گیری شار آشفته دریایی.

As well as the more traditional applications of aeronautics, hydraulics, heat and mass transfer etc., books will be published dealing with topics which are currently in a state of rapid development, such as turbulence, suspensions and multiphase fluids, super and hypersonic flows and numerical modeling techniques. It is a widely held view that it is the interdisciplinary subjects that will receive intense scientific attention, bringing them to the forefront of technological advancement. Fluids have the ability to transport matter and its properties as well as to transmit force, therefore fluid mechanics is a subject that is particularly open to cross fertilization with other sciences and disciplines of engineering. The subject of fluid mechanics will be highly relevant in domains such as chemical, metallurgical, biological and ecological
engineering. This series is particularly open to such new multidisciplinary domains. The median level of presentation is the first year graduate student. Some texts are monographs defining the current state of a field; others are accessible to final year undergraduates; but essentially the emphasis is on readability and clarity.
